The 10 Hottest Candidates for the La Liga Golden Boot 2026/2027
The Spanish La Liga season 2026/2027 is underway, and just like in the previous two seasons, there is one player who stands out clearly when looking at the favourites to finish as top scorer. Kylian Mbappé has won the Pichichi Trophy, the award given to the top scorer in Spain, in each of his first two years in the country and is the undisputed favourite to make it three in a row. Last season, the Frenchman scored 25 goals despite missing several matches due to injury problems and making only 31 league appearances. His tally was enough to win by a two-goal margin over Mallorca's Kosovan striker Vedat Muriqi (who has since left the club for Turkish side Fenerbahce).Behind Mbappé, however, the battle for the other top positions is considerably more open. Barcelona have several potential challengers, while players such as Mikel Oyarzabal, Ante Budimir and Georges Mikautadze have shown that they can score plenty of goals despite not playing for either of the two biggest clubs. Below, we rank the ten players we believe have the best chance of winning the La Liga Golden Boot in 2026/2027. We also present the average odds from the major bookmakers. 1. Kylian Mbappé, Real Madrid
There is really no doubt about who should top the list. Kylian Mbappé scored 31 league goals during his first season at Real Madrid and followed that up with 25 goals last season. In total, he has therefore scored 56 La Liga goals in two seasons and won the Golden Boot on both occasions. With Real Madrid's attacking quality and Mbappé as the team's clear main goalscorer, he is the player everyone else has to beat, and in truth, it may take a serious injury to prevent him from claiming his third consecutive top-scorer title.Approximate average odds: 1.57

2. Raphinha, Barcelona
Raphinha may not be the first player who comes to mind as Mbappé's main challenger, but over the past two years he has improved considerably as a goalscorer. He has also made a flying start to the season with two goals in Barcelona's 5-0 win over Elche in their league opener, one of them from the penalty spot. In a Barcelona team expected to score plenty of goals, his attacking role and penalty-taking duties could prove extremely valuable.Approximate average odds: 9.25

3. Lamine Yamal, Barcelona
Lamine Yamal took another major step forward in his development last season, scoring 16 goals in 28 league appearances while also being named La Liga's best player. He is still extremely young but has already developed from a creative winger into a player who regularly decides matches himself. If he can play closer to 35 matches and continues to improve his finishing, 20 goals or more is far from impossible. It is also difficult not to compare him with Messi given his enormous talent, and even in Messi's case it took a few seasons before his goal output really increased.Approximate average odds: 10.75
4. Mikel Oyarzabal, Real Sociedad
Mikel Oyarzabal may be the least glamorous name among the leading contenders, but his circumstances are very favourable. He scored 15 league goals last season and is one of Real Sociedad's most important attacking players. He also normally takes a large share of the team's penalties, which is a significant advantage in the race for the Golden Boot. He is unlikely to reach Mbappé's level if the Frenchman stays fit, but Oyarzabal is an interesting outsider.Approximate average odds: 15.50
5. Vinícius Júnior, Real Madrid
Vinícius Júnior scored 16 league goals last season and certainly has the ability to score even more. The problem for him when it comes to winning the Golden Boot, however, is that he plays alongside Mbappé, who both gets into more shooting positions and is normally the first-choice penalty taker. Vinícius will probably need the best goalscoring season of his career while Mbappé's output drops somewhat if he is to win, but his individual attacking quality means he still deserves a high place on the list.Approximate average odds: 18.50
6. Julián Álvarez, Atlético Madrid
Julián Álvarez had a weaker league season in 2025/2026 and finished with eight goals, but his peak level still makes him one of the market's leading challengers. The big question mark at the moment is his future. Álvarez has been strongly linked with Barcelona (and also Arsenal), while his relationship with Atlético has become more strained. If he stays and regains a central role under Diego Simeone, his goal output could increase considerably. If a move to Barcelona were to happen, the circumstances would change completely. 7. Georges Mikautadze, Villarreal
Georges Mikautadze is an exciting outsider after a strong first full season with Villarreal. The Georgian striker scored 13 goals and provided six assists in 32 La Liga appearances, despite starting only 23 of them. If he is given even greater responsibility and more starts, there is a good chance that he can improve on those numbers. Actually getting beyond 20 goals will be more difficult, but his development is heading in the right direction and Villarreal are once again an interesting outsider who could finish high up the table this season.Approximate average odds: 22.50
8. Ante Budimir, Osasuna
Croatian striker Ante Budimir continues to score goals regardless of how old he gets. Last season, the Osasuna forward found the net 17 times and finished third in the scoring charts behind Mbappé and Muriqi. Six of those goals came from the penalty spot, and his status as both the team's clear central striker and penalty taker makes him dangerous. Osasuna naturally create fewer chances than Real Madrid and Barcelona, but Budimir certainly does not need to adapt to any new role.Approximate average odds: 23.00
9. Jude Bellingham, Real Madrid
Jude Bellingham is not an out-and-out forward, which makes winning the Golden Boot feel less likely than the odds might suggest. At the same time, he has previously shown that he can score plenty of goals when given an attacking role, and Real Madrid will create a huge number of chances. The biggest drawback is naturally the competition from Mbappé and Vinícius, who will account for a large share of the team's goals, but Bellingham is also a dangerous goalscorer, something he showed once again at the World Cup earlier this summer.Approximate average odds: 23.50
10. Alexander Sørloth, Atlético Madrid
Norwegian striker Alexander Sørloth is a considerably more established La Liga goalscorer than many of the other outsiders on this list. He scored 13 league goals for Atlético Madrid last season despite starting only 20 matches, while the season before that he reached 20 goals. He has also previously scored 23 goals in a single season for Villarreal. The big question mark is playing time, especially given the competition in Atlético's attack, and he has also started the season with injury problems. If he stays fit and earns a more regular starting place, however, he has shown on several occasions that he has the ability to score 15-20 goals or more in La Liga, and if Álvarez also leaves the club, Sørloth will take on a more important role in attack.
