About Us at TopScorersFootball.com
TopScorersFootball.com is a website focused on football, and primarily on football's top scorers. If you're interested in who currently leads the Premier League scoring chart, who has been top scorer in Serie A in recent years, or who leads the assist rankings in La Liga - we've definitely got the information you're looking for. You'll also find other interesting data related to goal scorers, such as every hat-trick scored, the current standings in the race for the European Golden Shoe, and a list of all goal scorers in every match. We don't cover every football league in the world, but we do offer information on all major leagues and tournaments worldwide (those most relevant to football fans), and we regularly add new leagues to include as much as we can.
The information you find here for ongoing seasons is updated (virtually) in real time, so you can always trust that the top scorers and those close behind are shown with up-to-date data.
How we count goals
When compiling our top scorer lists, we count goals scored during the regular league season. If a competition also includes knockout rounds as part of the same tournament, such as the World Cup or Major League Soccer, goals from those matches are included as well. For leagues that start with a regular season and then split into stages such as a Championship Round, Relegation Round or European cup qualification round, we also include those goals, as they are still part of the league system.
Goals scored in separate qualification rounds, promotion playoffs or relegation playoffs are not included in our statistics.
Where does our data come from?
Almost all up-to-date information about goal scorers, matches, and tables comes through our partnership with API-Football, while much of the older information has been gathered "manually". Some information also comes from Wikipedia.org, and wherever we use that information we of course state Wikipedia as the source with a link to it.As for images, most come from Depositphotos and Dreamstime, and occasionally we use our own photos from matches and stadiums we've visited. The icons we are using on the site comes from SVG Repo.
Who are we?
We who run TopScorersFootball.com are a group of passionate football fans who've followed the game for most of our lives, and we also enjoy writing about it. We also have a number of guest contributors who help write articles on football and related topics. It all started in 2011 when we launched the Swedish site Skytteligor.se, initially featuring only a few top leagues (you can see the first version on Wayback Machine here). Over the years, we've continued adding more information and improving the site. In 2015, we translated the site into English and launched TopScorersFootball.com, and since then, we've also launched versions in Spanish (Goleadores.es), French (MeilleursButeurs.fr), Italian (TopMarcatori.it), Dutch (TopscorerVoetbal.nl), and German (TopTorschützen.de).
